Common problems
My cat ignores every sound
Almost certainly not a fault. A large proportion of cats show no visible response, particularly in the first few sessions. Try theHappy andMother Call categories when your cat is relaxed and already near you, keep the volume low, and watch the ears rather than waiting for a vocal reply. Ear rotation is a response — log it as one.
Sounds will not play
Check that your device is not in silent mode, that PurrPlay has audio permission, and that no other app is holding the audio session. If a downloaded sound fails specifically, remove the download and re-download it from the sound's detail screen.
Premium features are locked after paying
Open Settings → Restore purchases. Purchases are tied to your store account, so this resolves most cases. If it does not, send us the store receipt and we will unlock it manually.
Reactions are not syncing between devices
Sync requires that you are signed in to the same account on both devices. Check Settings → Account on each. If the account matches and data still differs after a minute, pull to refresh on the Cats screen.
Account and data
To delete your account and everything in it, useSettings → Account → Delete account. This removes your cat profiles, reaction logs and favourites permanently, within 30 days including backups. To export your data instead, useSettings → Account → Export.

Using the app responsibly
PurrPlay is a toy for gentle, shared moments. A few rules that matter more than any feature:
- Keep sessions short. A minute or two is plenty; cats habituate quickly.
- Never play conflict sounds — hisses, growls, fight calls — at a cat. They are in the library for recognition only.
- Stop immediately if your cat starts pacing, searching, hiding, or vocalising anxiously.
- PurrPlay does not diagnose anything. Sudden changes in your cat's vocalisation belong with a vet, not an app.
